Hello,
I have imported test cases via RTF from a MS Word file into a new module. IF I edit/save the new module after the import (before close), it seems to work. If I close the module, reopen it and make a small change (e.g. change object text) and then try to save, DOORS hangs forever. (waited 2 hours, using DOORS 9.2.0.2 on server and client)
Can somebody please give me a hint, what the problem could be ?
Attachted the module (saved directly after import before any manipulation) and RTF-file in question.
Many thanks !
Patrick

I had a go at this and could not fault the module. However, I do recall from somewhere that the Archive & Restore functions do some background integrity checking and can clean things up as it prepares the archive file (BTW - a DOORS archive file is actually just a zip file), so try restoring your archive in another folder and see if the problem goes away.

Hi Patrick,
Can you try the same task with the DOORS 9.2.0.0 client? (You do not have to touch your server to test this -- just switch out the client, or try the 9.2.0.0 client on another machine.) If the same task works as expected in the DOORS 9.2.0.0 client, the slowness you are seeing may be the result of a change introduced in the DOORS 9.2.0.1 client. In 9.2.0.1 and 9.2.0.2, the way the client iterates over RTF objects can result in very slow behavior if RTF objects are large (millions of characters). This is addressed in an upcoming DOORS fix pack, which will be available this Summer.
Hope this helps,
Arllen

Thats interesting, IBM broke the TAU to DOORS integration in a big way between 9.2.0.0 and 9.2.0.1. Reverting back to 9.2.0.0 solved our fairly catastrophic issues. 9.2.0.1 was meant to be purely about RIF, I think they may have sneaked some other things in as well ;-)

Re: DOORs hangs forever SystemAdmin - Wed Mar 10 09:21:08 EST 2010
We've had the same problem since upgrading from 8.1 to 9.2. Here's what our DOORS Admin has to say:
RTF NonShpPict and RTF ShpPict are poison attributes. Please note there is a third poison attribute RTF Pict (although this one is not very common). These attributes usually appear after importing a RTF file. It is possible to have these attributes and NOT have problems, but deleting these attribute will guarantee that the module will not hang-during-save. The one issue with deleting these attribute is that the user will not be able to modify the graphic. This is usually not a problem, since if the user need to modify the graphic they can replace the problem graphic.
As far as I know, this guidance has been working for us. Hope that helps.

Re: DOORs hangs forever SystemAdmin - Thu Mar 11 03:41:50 EST 2010
In the meantime I found out that I happens only I f I have (large ?) pictures within the RTF-file. My workaround is now to remove the picture from word in advance, then import the RTF file and insert the pictures again. This is feasible for me because the documents in questions only a a few (less than 10) pictures.
I assume that I faced the bug you described.
I will try with a older client (as Paul suggested) later this day.
Many thanks for your help

Hello Arllen,
I can confirm that I does not happen with 9.2.0.0. Also the images are sized differently than with 9.2.0.2
AI have attached the whole RTF-file again, as I have noticed that I did not attach the whole file in my first post. Hopefully somebody can use it to reproduce and debug the issue
